Tompolo Must Be Brought In For Questioning - EFCC

EFCC still after Tompolo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, December 17, said it has not given up its investigation of Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.

Speaking with The Cable, Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the commission said they would use all lawful means to bring in the former militant leader for questioning.
He said: “The commission will take all lawful measures to ensure that he answers the invitation.”

However, Uwujaren did not disclose if the commission would declare him wanted if he fails to appear for questioning.

In a letter dated December 9, Tompolo was given a seven-day ultimatum by the EFCC to appear before it. According to the letter, the commission is investigating the ex-militant for unclear dealings involving the sale of parcels of land worth about 13 billion naira to the federal government under the last administration led by former president. Goodluck Jonathan.

In November, a similar invitation was extended to the ex-militant by the head of operations at the EFCC, Iliasu Kwabai, but he failed to appear and no correspondence was received from him.

Sources close to Tompolo disclosed that he would shun the invitation from EFCC.
